On August 16th, The Players Alliance joined MLB in celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Negro Leagues. Our members pay tribute to the first professional Black Baseball League with a custom capsule collection, co-created by CC Sabathia in partnership with Roots of Fight, to benefit the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

That’s why we launched our Players Alliance Youth Clinic Series at MLB All-Star Denver, and kicked off our cross-country tour to provide equipment and skills programs to Black communities in need across the US.
Several current and former MLB players hosted a youth clinic at All-Star at the historic Sonny Lawson Field in Denver, providing baseball gear and introducing our game to a group of deserving kids in the surrounding areas.
Built in 1888, Sonny Lawson Field has played host to generations of Black baseball, including the Colorado Black Diamonds, the Denver White Elephants, and scores of Negro Leagues teams and players. The Players Alliance honored the legacies of those trailblazers who came before by hosting this event to support the next generation of Black ballplayers.

POWERING UP THE CLASSROOM
In order to succeed on the field, kids need to achieve success in the classroom. As part of February’s month-long campaign, Microsoft helped the Players Alliance launch “Power Up,” an Alliance Access Program initiative to provide digital classrooms to community groups in need, vital to our overall mission of creating all-around All-Stars.
