Vice President, Giving and Growth

Functioning as a member of the Senior leadership team, the VP of Giving and Growth leads The Players Alliance’s Engagement and Growth team to drive scale, retention, engagement and connection across key audiences. The purpose of the role is to lead the team responsible for increasing TPA’s resources, network, reach and mission connection and success. The VP’s duties include meeting regularly with club leadership, prospective donors, partners and staff both virtually and in-person to discuss new programming, opportunities funding, partnering, bridge-building, and preserving and maximizing TPA’s relationships.

The chosen leader will join and lead a new team at a critical moment in the organization’s life, focused on building a connection to TPA’s brand while growing the charity’s footprint, platform, revenue and mission impact. The successful candidate will bring energy, experience, creativity, execution, leadership and analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Lead a high-performing team to create and implement strategic giving, and business partnership initiatives needed to increase resources and donors, achieving the org’s annual match requirement and expanding the reach of The Players Alliance
  • Lead the development of player focused philanthropic initiatives ensuring connected communication and successful engagement
  • Establish professional guidelines for donor/player/club/public interaction to ensure excellence as a department, organizational and individual commitment
  • Develop and showcase a deep understanding of the importance of diversity that is specific to black participation in baseball both on and off the field
  • Own growth within The Players Alliance ensuring alignment of team’s goals with organizational goals, overarching vision and passion of players and leaders
  • Conduct, present and utilize research related to diversity and sports/baseball as a means of developing bridges, pathways to excellence and participation and positions of advocacy for board and leadership
  • Execute on new growth and fundraising opportunities with the CEO, sponsorship lead and partners ensuring brand flexibility and pivot towards mission opportunity
  • Manage growth analytics to determine best path towards growth, expansion and development
  • Represent The Players Alliance with high integrity, professionalism, sensitivity to culture and engagement

 

Qualifications

  • B/A or B/S required; MS preferred
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years in community/donor/fundraising; 2 years experience in growth leadership
  • Stellar performer holding a track record for clear exhibition of professional maturity and solid fundraising related to sports and community initiatives
  • Previous experience in management/leadership, with demonstrable and quantifiable evidence of success
  • Present leader over boss, being a consistent model for staff and colleagues
  • Previous success and experience working in organizations and roles held in the public’s trust
  • Familiarity, comfort and commitment to excellence in both the principles and practices of diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Strong, honest, ethical work demeanor and style
  • Demonstrated ability to provide attention to detail and concern for accuracy and consistency in results
  • Proficient in developing, maintaining and utilizing CRM tools.
  • Must possess strong presentation skills and proficiency in computer application programs
  • Friendly, outgoing personality, with an ability to connect via phone/zoom and in person

Functioning as a member of the Giving and Growth team, the Director of Mission Partnerships leads The Players Alliance’s corporate giving strategy by identifying and securing sponsorship and strategic partnership opportunities supporting programming across the organization. The purpose of the role is to identify and engage brands, agencies and corporate entities needed for the sustained growth of TPA’s brand partnerships and sponsorship agreements ensuring all targets of this vital asset and revenue stream are met Working closely with the VP of Giving and Growth the director will ascertain partners of TPA members and board and meet regularly with prospective donors/partners and staff both virtually and in-person to discuss new programming, opportunities for funding, partnering to further the reach of TPA’s mission.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Develop and deliver new and innovative sponsorship offerings and agreements that maximize engagement and growth opportunities across TPA with a focus on generating cross org, long-term corporate support; Ensure all sponsorship agreements align with TPA’s goals, values and ethical standards
  • Develop and lead the creation of a comprehensive sponsorship framework and strategy, ensuring the development of policies, asset identification and valuations
  • Develop and showcase a commitment and deep understanding of the importance of diversity that is specific to black participation in baseball both on and off the field
  • Work closely with CEO and programs leadership to identify, develop and package partnership and sponsorship opportunities based on from current and future programming activities
  • Work closely with finance and leadership to ensure the development and delivery of sustained revenue growth from the creation and execution of innovative, scalable brand sponsorship agreements and corporate commitments to ensure that quarterly and annual financial targets are met
  • Manage all sponsorship program activities including prospecting, sales and negotiation, proposal development, sponsor activations, servicing and relationship management
  • Build and cultivate relationships with brands, agencies and corporate entities, while maintaining existing relationships with current brands and corporate sponsors
  • Ensure fulfillment of sponsorship contracts based on sponsorship agreements
  • Represent The Players Alliance with high integrity, professionalism, sensitivity to culture and engagement
  • Complete other related duties as assigned
