About Us

We're building the equitable systems needed to make baseball more accessible.

Our Mission

Founded in 2020, The Players Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization led by current and former professional baseball players, dedicated to breaking down systemic barriers to equity and inclusion both on and off the field.

Our mission is to address baseball’s systemic barriers to equity and inclusion by building pathways to opportunity, on and off the field, for an undeniable pipeline of Black talent.

Our Vision

The Players Alliance exists because representation is not a talking point — it’s a responsibility. We are Black professional players who have chosen to turn our platform, our resources, and our lived experience into ownership: not just visibility, but investment in the future of our game and our community.

We believe baseball should look like the neighborhoods it was born in. For generations, the sport has been part of Black culture’s heartbeat, from the Negro Leagues to Jackie Robinson to every kid who ever played stickball in the street. Somewhere along the way, that connection frayed. We’re here to rebuild it, deliberately and permanently.

This means:

O1 Owning the Pipeline

Owning the pipeline. It starts with youth mentoring via Equip The Future™ and grows through hands-on training with programs like Cross Checkers™. It gains visibility at The Collegiate Combine, and it culminates in professional opportunity through The Davis League — a direct investment in every stage between potential and opportunity.

O1 Supporting the Community

Supporting the community, not just the sport. Food insecurity, under-resourced schools, and limited economic opportunity are daily realities for many of the communities we serve and they directly affect whether a child has the stability to engage with baseball at all. That’s why our work extends beyond the game, addressing the barriers our youth face before we ask them to fall in love with the sport.

Preserving our history while building our future. We honor the legacy of the Negro Leagues and the players who paved this road, because our future only makes sense in light of where we’ve been.

O1 Standing As Proof, Not Just Promise

Standing as proof, not just promise. As players, we are living evidence that this game has a place for our community and we commit to making that true for the next generation, and the one after that.

Our representation matters because the game is better, richer, and more honest when it reflects the full community that loves it. And our community deserves a game that invests back in them the way they’ve always invested in it.

This is bigger than baseball. This is about ownership — of opportunity, of narrative, of legacy. The Players Alliance is that commitment, made real.

Our core values

Our core values serve as a foundation for all that we do and our shared expectations of each other and our partners.

LEADERSHIP

We believe that as black players we have both the right and responsibility to lead using our unique, yet shared experiences, education and collective voice

OWNERSHIP

We believe our experiences (both success and failure) in the game of baseball uniquely qualify us to transition from players of a game, to owners of desired solutions to increase the presence and involvement of African Americans

STEWARDSHIP

We respect every gift received and relied upon by our mission and commit to transparency and effective stewardship

DIVERSITY

We believe that diversity is an asset and must be viewed and pursued as a priority throughout the game of baseball

EQUALITY

We believe equally in the lessons found in a player’s success and failure because they both impact the talent pool available to the game.

PROTECTION

We are committed to advocating for thoughtful interventions and protective guidance for players and their families to combat the special vulnerabilities and pitfalls found in the journey towards and within professional play

SERVICE

We are committed to using our voice at the table to serve on behalf of those unaware of the table’s existence.
